Walmart Streaming Display

In a cluttered streaming player aisle surrounded by competitors, how could we encourage shoppers to not only choose Roku, but find the specific Roku player that best suited them? I helped articulate this story by focusing on the main selling points of the Roku platform first, then simplifying the product benefits of each Roku player into an easy-to-digest chart.

Best Buy Roku TV Display

Buying a TV is an overwhelming process. With so many brands, models, specs, and sizes to choose from, it’s easy for a shopper to get frustrated. But after extensive research, we found that price, size, and picture quality were the main three factors shoppers considered.

As the creative lead, I used these insights to craft the narrative of this interactive panel for a Roku TV display at Best Buy. Shoppers in-store would already be in the TV section, so the first goal was to convince them to stick with a Roku TV, then educate them on how to choose a specific one.

Streaming Player Packaging

The streaming player boxes below reflect a total redesign and simplification, led by myself and the retail design team in collaboration with product marketing. Every decision was a result of many rounds of qualitative and quantitative research. When developing this redesign, our emphasis was making the step-ups between devices more obvious and help shoppers make a decision at the shelf. In doing so, we condensed the copy on the back of the boxes dramatically and used icons to communicate the features at a glance.
